Job Description

  • Join our Group Technology team and transform how Qantas Engineering works through technology and data
  • Lead emerging products from discovery and proof of value through to secure, scalable production services
  • Permanent opportunity based at our Head Office in Mascot

At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Our strength comes from our people, their different experiences and perspectives, and a shared commitment to safety, performance and delivering for our customers.

Technology plays a critical role in helping us operate safely, efficiently and reliably. As the Technical Product Owner, Engineering Digital and Data Products, you will lead a portfolio of existing, emerging and data-driven products supporting Qantas Engineering. This includes workforce mobility, maintenance optimisation, the Engineering data platform and related digital solutions.

Working closely with Engineering leaders, frontline teams, technology specialists and external partners, you will identify where technology can improve aircraft availability, maintenance productivity, safety and cost. You will help take opportunities from discovery and proof of value through to scaled, supportable production services.

This is an opportunity to deliver practical innovation with measurable operational impact. You will build the trusted data foundations needed for analytics, optimisation and future AI and machine-learning use cases, while ensuring products are secure, resilient and integrated effectively with the wider maintenance technology landscape.

What you’ll bring to the role

You are an experienced technology product leader who can turn emerging ideas into secure, scalable products that deliver measurable operational value. You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in technology product ownership or product management including manufacturer supplied and in house developed products
  • Demonstrated success taking products from discovery and proof of concept through to supported production services, with evidence of measurable business or operational outcomes.
  • Proven vendor-management experience across specialist partners, aircraft manufacturers or enterprise vendors.
  • Experience developing data platforms or data products that support reporting, analytics, optimisation and future AI or machine-learning use cases.
  • Exposure to operational technologies such as mobile devices, IoT, RFID, predictive maintenance or optimisation, ideally within aviation, rail, defence, manufacturing or utilities.
  • Strong capability in business-case development, benefits realisation, budget management and total-cost-of-ownership governance.
  • The ability to embed safety, cyber security, privacy, regulatory compliance, data governance and operational resilience throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong stakeholder, change and people leadership skills, with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and drive frontline adoption.
  • A degree in information technology, engineering, data or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in aviation maintenance or maintenance, repair and overhaul environments will be highly regarded. Familiarity with aircraft health-monitoring data, maintenance and engineering systems and optimisation would also be advantageous.
