Xero is reimagining how banking feed information is reconciled into our accounting platform. We are building a new, highly strategic AI-driven Bank Reconciliation program to transform a core accounting process, leveraging advanced AI/ML, robust APIs, and sophisticated data pipelines. This initiative is complex, cross-functional, and critical to enhancing the user experience and accuracy for our customers.
As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), AI-Driven Bank Reconciliation, you will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of this cutting-edge program. You will contribute to establishing best practices and growing the value of program management within Xero's AI team. This role requires a strong blend of technical acumen, leadership, and exceptional communication skills to navigate complex AI/ML development cycles, banking data intricacies, and significant stakeholder engagement.
What You"ll Do:
- Drive End-to-End Program Delivery: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of our AI-driven bank reconciliation platform, from conception to launch and iteration. This includes defining program scope, objectives, key results, and managing timelines and resources across multiple teams and geographies.
- Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Foster strong collaboration and alignment among diverse stakeholders, including engineering teams, data scientists, product managers, designers, legal, compliance, and senior leadership across different divisions (Product, AI/Data, Security, Legal, Banking Partnerships).
- Proactive Risk & Dependency Management: Identify, assess, and manage critical risks, issues, and inter-team dependencies, developing mitigation strategies and timely resolution to keep the program on track.
- Communicate with Impact: Communicate to all levels of the organization, providing clear, concise, and timely updates from engineering teams to executive leadership. Translate complex technical concepts related to AI/ML, APIs, and banking data into understandable business implications.
- Technical Acumen & Problem Solving: With a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, data pipelines, API integrations with banking partners, and accounting reconciliation processes, you'll help identify technical challenges, facilitate technical discussions, and ensure robust and scalable solutions.
- Influence & Navigate Ambiguity: Leading without authority, influencing teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals, even in ambiguous or rapidly evolving environments.
- Champion Data Integrity & Compliance: Work closely with legal, compliance, and security teams to ensure the platform adheres to data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and Xero's ethical AI principles, especially concerning sensitive financial data.
What You'll Bring With You:
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional software products or platforms.
- Experience with AI/ML-driven product development from concept to deployment. Understanding of ML lifecycles, data pipelines, model training, and deployment challenges is highly desirable.
- Experience with financial data, banking APIs, or accounting software, particularly in reconciliation processes, is a significant plus.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences, from highly technical engineers and data scientists to senior executives.
- Senior leadership and judgment, capable of rallying teams, making sound decisions under pressure, and identifying critical "signal" amidst "noise."Solid technical fluency, enabling effective engagement with engineering and data science teams on architectural discussions, technical challenges, and risk assessments related to data ingestion, processing, and reconciliation long.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment, ideally within a global organization.
- Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and build strong relationships across multiple business units and functions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
