ABOUT SENTRAL

Sentral is a trusted cloud-based platform supporting over 3000 schools across Australia with student administration, data management and parent engagement. By reducing administrative workload, Sentral empowers teachers, administrators and school leaders to focus on improving student outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Technical Writer plays a critical role in enhancing the customer experience by creating and maintaining high-quality, user-centric documentation and support materials. This role collaborates closely with product managers, engineers, marketing, and the Knowledge Management Specialist to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging content across multiple formats—including release notes, online help, training guides, API documentation, and in-platform guidance. The Technical Writer also contributes to the broader product documentation strategy, ensuring consistency and usability through established content standards. By gathering customer feedback and monitoring usage metrics, the Technical Writer helps prioritize documentation efforts that support product launches, feature releases, and ongoing customer engagement. This role is essential in driving product adoption and empowering users through accessible and effective information.

SALARY

The salary range for this position is AUD 110,000 to 130,000 + superannuation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with product managers, marketing, and engineers to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including release notes, online help, training guides, API developer guides, In platform documentation (tooltips, welcome onboarding instructions, etc.)
  • Build and maintain client aids beyond traditional documentation eg: videos Work closely with the Knowledge Management Specialist to manage and maintain content standards and guidelines to assist other teams contribute to product documentation
  • Contribute towards the product documentation strategy in conjunction with the Knowledge Management Specialist
  • Gather customer feedback on documentation to improve usability
  • Monitor metrics on the usage of training materials as well as direct customer feedback to prioritise future documentation investments
  • Contribute to product launches, feature releases and product positioning to drive engagement from our core customer base
  • Other duties as reasonably requested by Sentral 

ABOUT YOU

  • Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions for improvement
  • A team player who takes responsibility seriously
  • Excellent communication skills with a thoughtful and direct style
  • Possession of, or willingness and eligibility to obtain, a Working with Children Check.
  • Tertiary qualifications/equivalent experience in technical writing/Instructional design or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in technical writing roles ideally for a SaaS vendor
  • Experience developing end to end documentation creation with a wide range of tools
  • Experience working with the following tools preferred: Confluence, JIRA, ADO, Git & Github, HTML, CSS, Salesforce
  • Excellent written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation skills
