Technology Risk is about supporting and managing risks so that ING Bank Australia Limited (IBAL) can meet its business objectives and can provide the best and most reliable products and services to its customers. Decision makers at IBAL need to be able to make informed decisions about the opportunities presented by new technologies, as well as the damage that can be caused if technology is not managed and controlled well.
The primary aims of this role are summarised as follows:

Manage IT Risk so that we remain in appetite

Timely completion of reviewing risk artefacts, including Risk in Change

Stakeholder relationship and effective risk advice

Issue and Event management
The Technology Risk Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Technology Risk. The Technology Risk Manager plays a critical first line role in managing and embedding risk practices across Technology. This role is responsible for reviewing and challenging risk artefacts to ensure they meet framework and quality expectations, managing the identification and treatment of IT Risks, and overseeing the lifecycle of issues and events from detection through to resolution.
The Technology Risk Manager ensures IT risks are identified, assessed, and managed to remain within risk appetite. This includes working with Technology teams to assess emerging risks, support effective controls, and monitor risk trends. The Technology Risk Manager is responsible for reviewing risk artefacts such as risk assessments and framework documents and risk in change assessments to ensure they meet quality standards and align with methodology. The The Technology Risk Manager provides timely and constructive feedback, helping uplift the quality and consistency of risk documentation across Technology teams. The Technology Risk Manager builds strong relationship with Technology and business stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on risk matters. By providing practical and well-informed risk guidance, the role helps team make better decisions, embed risk thinking and meet both delivery and compliance expectations. The Technology Risk Manager will also oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of technology issues and events, ensuring they are captured, assessed and resolved effectively. It supports root cause analysis, risk impact assessments and action planning while ensuring key events and recurring issues are escalated and addressed in line with governance expectations.
