Our Why

At Datacom, we work with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. By combining technology expertise with strong customer relationships, we deliver meaningful outcomes that help our customers succeed and create opportunities for our people to thrive.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Inside Sales Representative to join our TPG team in Australia.

As an Inside Sales Representative, you will play a critical role in supporting Datacom’s internal service lines by delivering operational excellence across technology procurement and product operations. Working closely with internal stakeholders, technology vendors, distributors, procurement teams, and accounts teams, you will help ensure business requirements are met efficiently while delivering exceptional service and commercial outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, coordinating multiple priorities, and providing trusted advice on technology products and procurement processes. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to cost optimisation initiatives, support business growth, and develop your knowledge of Datacom’s technology ecosystem.

You'll join a collaborative team environment where communication, stakeholder engagement, and attention to detail are highly valued.

What you’ll do

At the moment, as an Inside Sales Representative you will be focused on:

  • Acting as a key point of contact for Datacom service lines, understanding their technology requirements and recommending suitable products and solutions.
  • Managing and processing requests in a timely manner whilst ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with technology vendors, distributors, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting pricing activities, vendor incentives, and cost optimisation initiatives to maximise value for the business.
  • Managing day-to-day procurement transactions for hardware and software requirements across internal service lines.
  • Coordinating post-sales order management activities, ensuring accurate fulfilment and timely resolution of issues.
  • Providing clear and proactive communication on order status, ETAs, backorders, supply chain risks, and delivery updates.
  • Working closely with finance and accounts teams on billing, reconciliation, and procurement administration activities.
  • Contributing to monthly reporting and delivering accurate insights to internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Maintaining product knowledge through ongoing vendor and distributor training and engagement.
  • Supporting a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to Datacom health and safety standards and policies.

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:

  • Previous experience in a sales, inside sales, customer service, account coordination, procurement, or technology operations environment.
  • At least 1 year of sales experience.
  • Sound knowledge of technology products and the broader IT industry.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Understanding of procurement administration processes including ordering, receipting, invoicing, returns, and payments.

Nice to have:

  • A post-secondary qualification in Information Technology, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with technology vendors, distributors, procurement processes, or supply chain operations.
  • Exposure to hardware and software procurement environments.
  • Experience supporting internal customers within a large or complex organisation.
