ING Australia are on a hunt for a detail‑driven and proactive Treasury Operations Officer to join our Transaction Processing & Controls team within Payments & Savings Operations.
 

As Treasury Operations Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely settlement of ING’s Treasury transactions including Money Market, FX, Derivatives and Fixed Income. You’ll action RTGS and SWIFT payments, resolve cash discrepancies, and support critical settlement and confirmation processes across the bank. This is a hands‑on operations role where accuracy, control and speed matter. You’ll work closely with Treasury Dealers, internal stakeholders and external counterparties to keep our markets operations running smoothly while supporting a strong risk and compliance culture.

Our ideal candidate is someone with strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail and at least 12 months’ experience in banking or finance. You’re comfortable navigating systems like Austraclear, RITS and SWIFT, thrive in fast‑paced environments, and enjoy being part of a collaborative, high‑performing team. Above all, you take pride in getting things right the first time and keeping operations safe, efficient and well‑controlled.

What you’ll do

  • Action and settle Money Market, Fixed Income, Derivatives, FX and NCD transactions through Austraclear, SFE and RITS.
  • Process retail, commercial and wholesale SWIFT payments, ensuring timeliness and zero failed settlements.
  • Settle Term Deposits for Middle Market clients and loan/drawdown payments across Wholesale and Retail products.
  • Investigate and resolve cash discrepancies, nostro breaks and payment issues in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and match trade confirmations with counterparties such as banks, fund managers, corporates and other financial institutions.
  • Organise and maintain confirmations, rates reset notices and settlement documentation, detecting errors before settlement.
  • Support process improvements, new product implementations and system enhancements to uplift operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to a strong operational risk culture by adhering to controls, procedures and audit expectations.
  • Partner with Treasury Dealers, Reconciliations, Wholesale Banking, Mortgage teams, Middle Market, IT Treasury System Support, and external agents.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in banking or financial services, ideally within back‑office, reconciliations or treasury operations.
  • Degree qualification in Economics or Finance; FINSIA accreditation desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Treasury products (Money Market, Fixed Income, Derivatives, FX).
  • Experience with payment and settlement systems such as Austraclear, RITS and SWIFT.
  • Strong analytical skills with an understanding of reconciliations and accounting impacts.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational capability.
  • Effective communicator and team player with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to streamline processes, identify improvements and work within a control‑focused environment.
