Provide legal support across Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan including contract drafting and negotiation, marketing compliance, sales document preparation, trademark and regulatory matters, dispute management, coordination with external counsel, and training commercial teams to ensure compliance with medical device and corporate policies.

REPORTING: This role will report to the Director, Managing Counsel for Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong of Align Technology.
Key Responsibilities
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing administrative support to legal operations in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan. Support area may occasionally expand to other markets in APAC
- Providing support in reviewing marketing proposals and collaterals and educating marketing team to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations and codes which apply to medical devices in the field of advertising, promotion and labelling
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating or otherwise providing legal support to the various types of contracts and commercial transactions arising from the growing business of Align Technology in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan
- Communicating and coordinating with global and/or regional teams on localization and execution of new global/regional initiatives, systems or policies
- Preparing and reviewing sales support documents and assisting in developing standard document templates and related SOPs
- Providing trainings and guidance, and/or support thereto, to commercial teams to ensure legal compliance with respect to contract approval, execution and filing
- Providing general support in other legal and regulatory aspects of the activities of Align Technology in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan, such as trademark enforcement and brand protection, anti-bribery compliance, anti-trust issues and corporate secretarial support.
- Handling claims, disputes and litigations with customers, patients, employees, suppliers and third parties where necessary in collaboration with external counsels.
- Coordinating with external counsel on the various legal matters and providing support in Align Technology’s interactions with government regulators.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Good academic credentials from a leading university in Taiwan or overseas and preferably, completion of a law degree.
- At least 7 years’ work experience with an international or leading law firm or equivalent in-house experience with a multinational company, or a combination of the two
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other healthcare sectors is a plus
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Fluent in Chinese and English, together with excellent drafting skills in Chinese and English.
- Business level Japanese is a plus.
- Demonstrable ability to think and act independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively within the reginal legal team and with local business and marketing teams
- Flexible and willing to learn sensitivities and issues represented in different legal systems and adapt to a continuously changing legal environment
- Fully proficient with commonly used IT software including Microsoft Office, ability to quickly learn and use IT systems
- Self-motivator, quick-learner and team oriented
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, highly customized business environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work
- A pleasant personality with good interpersonal skill
