The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a WHS Management System Specialist, based in our Macquarie University Campus location. Reporting to the Manager, Global Work Health & Safety, this role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving Cochlear’s global WHS management system to ensure a safe working environment. This role ensures data integrity, identifies critical risks, and drives continuous improvement in workplace health and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the global WHS management system to align with legislation, standards, and Cochlear’s enterprise risk management framework.
  • Govern WHS processes by maintaining registers, policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance.
  • Lead risk management initiatives, supporting audits and compliance checks to enhance the effectiveness of the WHS system.
  • Develop reporting processes to track WHS performance, identify risks, and inform decision-making at the executive and board level.
  • Support workplace incident investigations, ensuring proper reporting, analysis, and resolution of safety concerns.
  • Enhance WHS compliance and capability by developing training programs and promoting awareness of WHS responsibilities across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve safety culture and workplace well-being initiatives.

About You

As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality solutions and ensuring a safe and compliant workplace. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven ability to develop and implement WHS management systems.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience conducting data analysis, risk assessments, and reporting (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Effective relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving WHS issues.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively across teams.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Experience or qualifications in Psychology or psychosocial safety systems (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in WHS management, including system development and auditing
