Your opportunity

Every family deserves the opportunity to thrive, especially in the early years when the foundations for life are built. At Castlereagh Family Support, part of Mission Australia’s Child Youth and Family Support (CYFS) program, you will walk alongside families in the Warrumbungle Shire, providing early support that strengthens parenting capacity, builds resilience, and helps keep children safe and connected. This role focuses on supporting families early in life and early in need, delivering practical casework, home visits and evidence-based parenting support to prevent issues from escalating and empower families to create positive futures.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Deliver person centred case management to children, young people and families
  • Assess referrals and develop strengths-based case plans
  • Provide practical support through outreach and home visits
  • Support families to build parenting skills and relationships
  • Facilitate or assist with evidence-based parenting programs
  • Connect clients to community, housing, financial and wellbeing supports
  • Support client transitions and build independence
  • Build relationships with local stakeholders and services
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports and client records

Requirements for success 

  • Qualification in community services, social work or similar, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families
  • Ability to manage a caseload and support clients with complex needs
  • Knowledge of child and family services, early intervention or community development approaches
  • Experience or interest in delivering group programs
  • Strong communication skills and relationship building skills
  • Sound administrative and IT skills
  • Valid driver licence and First Aid certificate

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
