We are seeking a highly analytical professional with a background in climate science, and experience in translating climate data into decision-useful insights. This role is for a subject matter expert who can undertake climate data wrangling and quantitative scenario analysis, as well as guide and uplift more junior consultants.

Why This Role Matters

The changing climate presents unprecedented risks and shifts in business models as companies adapt to meet the needs of climate-impacted consumers and markets. ERM seeks Managing Consultants who are energised to help businesses build resilience in the face of climate change.

What Your Impact Is

Our team combines science, economics, finance, policy and governance with deep sector expertise, enabling credible assessment of how climate impacts real‑world assets and operations.

This role centres on providing subject matter expertise for the analysis and interpretation of physical climate risk, in guiding our team in delivering this work to a high standard and supporting clients with AASB S2 reporting requirements and resilience strategy development. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience using tools such as Python, ArcGIS, or similar to source and analyse relevant climate datasets and derive and apply climate-related damage functions for a variety of asset types and sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver physical climate risk assessments and quantitative scenario analysis aligned with AASB S2 climate-related financial disclosures requirements.

  • Translating climate science into risks and potential impacts specific to our clients.

  • Apply climate data analysis techniques, methods and support the development of junior consultants along with enhancing ERM’s approach to physical risk modelling where possible

  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate climate insights into disclosures and strategic decision-making.

  • Support client workshops and presentations that communicate complex climate risks in terms of exposure, impact and opportunities.

  • Contribute to project management and client engagement, ensuring deliverables are timely, accurate, and actionable.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in similar roles (corporate or consulting).

  • Strong understanding of global and Australian qualitative and quantitative climate data sources.

  • Practical experience in undertaking climate risk assessment, scenario analysis, and/or developing adaptation strategies.

  • Strong hands‑on experience analysing climate data using scripting and/or geospatial tools (e.g. Python, ArcGIS)

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex information into compelling, client-focused insights.

  • Project and client management experience, including workshop facilitation and presentation of technical insights to senior stakeholders.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in translating climate-related impacts into impacts to financial statements.

  • Experience in the qualitative and narrative aspects of scenario analysis and disclosure drafting.

  • Well-developed understanding of the drivers of business response to climate change, including due diligence considerations for mergers and acquisitions
