Who we are

At Renewable Metals, we’re pioneering the future of battery recycling. Our mission is simple but powerful: to sustainably recover critical minerals from lithium battery waste. With our world-first alkali recycling process, we can recover over 95% of lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, and manganese across all major lithium battery chemistries. Unlike traditional methods, our technology is cleaner, more cost-effective, and better for the planet.

Backed by leading climate-tech investors—Investible, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, and the Grantham Foundation—as well as grant support from the NSW Government, we’re scaling up fast. Our team is currently building a larger-scale demonstration plant in Perth, and progressing an engineering study for a commercial facility in the Hunter region of NSW.

The role

This is a high-visibility, high-impact role working directly with senior management.

You’ll be a generalist operator, contributing across areas like business operations, finance, HR, compliance, special projects, and more. The role is intentionally broad to give you exposure to many facets of running a growing startup. But don’t worry—we're not expecting you to take it all on at once or do it alone.

We’ll shape priorities around the company’s needs and your strengths, with plenty of support and space to learn. Over time, you’ll take more ownership in the areas where you can have the most impact.

If you’re a practical problem-solver with natural curiosity, someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys variety, this is your chance to play a key role in a mission-driven company.

Key responsibilities

You won’t be expected to come in knowing everything, but here’s a flavour of the types of work you might get involved in:

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reconciliation and reporting
  • Help improve business processes and drive automation, and manage internals systems and tools
  • Manage employee onboarding and training, and coordinate internal policy updates and employee engagement initiatives
  • Assist with managing health & safety compliance, risk registers & insurance, and IP applications and reviews
  • Dive into research, grant applications, and other mission-critical projects
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across internal teams, external partners, and investors

What We're Looking For

  • Full Australian working rights
  • 3-5 years of experience in consulting, business operations, finance, startups, or similar
  • Generalist mindset. You love variety and have touched multiple business functions before
  • Bias for action. You’re proactive, resourceful, and take initiative
  • Great communicator. You’ve worked with senior execs, customers, or stakeholders before
  • You love startups or want to work in one. Ambiguity, pace, and evolving goals don’t scare you
  • Sydney-based and able to work in the office 2-3 days/week

What You’ll Get

  • A front-row seat in a fast-growing climate tech company solving hard problems
  • The chance to shape this role and grow with the business
  • Close mentorship from experienced operators
  • Flexibility (hybrid work) and autonomy
  • A mission you can believe in
