Job Description

As the Commercial Manager – Airports, you will be responsible for working with key stakeholders across the Qantas Group to understand relevant Group business needs and objectives to develop long term Group airport strategies.  You will ensure that appropriate commercial strategies are established and applied to individual airports, according to the overall Commercial Airports strategy as well as specific Group operational requirements. You will also take responsibility for commercial activities for airports, seeing them through from inception to negotiation and to contract execution.

Your role will ensure that an appropriate airport strategy is established that sets out how the Qantas Group will approach the negotiations to support the business and deliver value in the short and long term. This will ensure that execution of the strategy and strategic negotiations activities occur in line with the airport strategy as well as delivering to targets as set out within the Commercial Airports team. 

You will be a client relationship lead for regional and medium airports, and have a substantial client relationship responsibility for major airports. You will have the ability to manage Group internal business and external stakeholders with strategic commercial needs. This role requires expertise in professional negotiation capabilities as well as excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement skills. 

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years stakeholder management and/or procurement / negotiation experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Business Management or similar
  • Advanced influencing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to influence and convince stakeholders, building effective business relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Leading complex negotiations on regional ports and contributing to deals on Tier 1 and 2 ports.
  • Strong leadership skills with some ability in running cross functional projects/teams and delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment.
  • Managing change and project management
  • Able to interpret and execute commercial strategies, analyse data and markets and professionally present findings and recommendations 
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness with a clear understanding of the drivers affecting the business, and the ability to demonstrate a passion for delivering commercially astute outcomes.
  • Flexibility and creativity – able to demonstrate the ability to adopt new methods and processes in order to deliver outcomes and meet the internal customer needs, consistently challenging existing paradigms.
  • Strong computer literacy and Microsoft skills
