The opportunity

Downer’s Energy & Industrial business is seeking a Contract Administrator to manage day-to-day commercial and contractual matters for major projects. Reporting to the Commercial Director, Energy & Industrial, and supported by the Senior Commercial Manager, this role ensures successful project delivery through effective contract administration, risk management and stakeholder engagement.

Based in either Gladstone or Brisbane, you will be required to work full-time on-site during major outages, with regular site visits outside of outage periods. You will support multiple project teams and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on budget and in line with Downer standards.

This is a critical role underpinning project success and client satisfaction.


What you’ll do

  • Administer upstream and downstream contracts, including payment claims, variations and compliance tracking
  • Support project teams with commercial strategies, risk management and dispute resolution
  • Maintain project registers including delay, variation and insurance registers, ensuring timely reporting
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and clients to manage contractual obligations
  • Provide commercial guidance to project teams to optimise project outcomes

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract administration or commercial management within capital projects
  • Strong understanding of contracts, variations, claims and dispute resolution
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability, with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills
  • A proactive and outcomes-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively across teams
