Are you an experienced Service Desk Engineer or Systems Administrator looking to take the next step into infrastructure and data centre operations? Do you enjoy hands-on technical work, solving problems onsite, and keeping critical environments running smoothly?

We are looking for a Data Centre Support Engineer to support the day-to-day operation of our data centre environments. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond desk-based support and gain exposure to enterprise infrastructure, data centre operations, and critical technology environments.

This role is based across our Castle Hill and St Peters data centre locations, with regular travel required between sites. A current driver's licence and reliable transport are essential.

This team provides service coverage between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time, you will be required to participate in an on-call roster outside of standard service hours to support business and client requirements.

What you'll be doing
  • Complete regular site inspections and health checks across operational technology and infrastructure
  • Support hardware installations, rack and stack activities, equipment moves and cabling tasks
  • Provide hands-on smart hands support for servers, storage, networking and data centre equipment
  • Respond to incidents, service requests and approved changes while maintaining clear ticket updates
  • Escort vendors and support maintenance, repair and installation activities
  • Maintain accurate asset records, rack layouts, inventory information and site documentation
  • Identify risks, escalate issues promptly and support safe, compliant data centre operations
  • Support stock management, equipment deliveries and capacity planning activities
  • Work closely with clients, vendors and internal technical teams to ensure service delivery standards are met

Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience in IT support, infrastructure support or systems administration
  • Hands-on experience supporting servers, storage, networking, cabling or physical IT infrastructure
  • Experience with hardware installation, troubleshooting and equipment relocation activities
  • Strong understanding of incident, request and change management processes
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, ticket updates and asset records
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to following operational procedures

Highly desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a data centre, communications room or critical infrastructure environment
  • Experience with ticketing, asset management, monitoring or documentation platforms
  • ITIL knowledge or certification
  • Experience working with telecommunications providers, facilities teams or hardware vendors
  • Exposure to enterprise infrastructure and managed services environments
