Company Description

Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest regional, domestic, and international airline. Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.

Job Description

  • Coordinate end-to-end finance support for Charters across commercial, operational and finance teams for Qantas Airlines.
  • Lead network and portfolio insight that strengthens commercial decisions and performance.
  • 24-month fixed term, full-time role based at Mascot HQ.

Reporting to the Head of Finance – Planning and Performance, you’ll provide dedicated finance business partnering across Charters, network analysis and portfolio performance. As Charters operates across multiple business areas, you’ll bring together financial inputs and perspectives from commercial, operational and finance stakeholders, providing an integrated view across the charter lifecycle—from initial opportunity and aircraft allocation through delivery and financial close.

This highly visible, hands-on role combines commercial insight, performance analysis and practical process ownership. You’ll bring structure and accountability to complex decisions, identify emerging issues early and help stakeholders turn insight into action.

What you'll deliver

  • Coordinate the end-to-end financial view of Charters across commercial, operational and finance teams, creating clear ownership of decisions, hand-offs and actions.
  • Own and improve charter pricing and costing models, supporting customer enquiries, commercial proposals and contracting with clear assumptions, risks, approvals and finance sign-offs.
  • Deliver network and portfolio analysis, and improve performance reporting and planning processes, to support commercial decisions, prioritisation and broader strategic initiatives.
  • Own budgeting and forecasting for charter revenue, maintaining a credible outlook based on volume, pricing, timing and operational assumptions.
  • Partner with finance systems and profitability stakeholders to strengthen data, inputs, allocations and route and charter profitability reporting.

What you'll bring

  • 6+ years in FP&A, commercial finance or finance business partnering, with a track record of converting complex financial and operational information into insights that influence senior decisions and improve business outcomes.
  • Strong driver-based forecasting and modelling capability including experience with pricing, costing and scenario analysis.
  • A track record of influencing senior leaders, constructively challenging assumptions and moving discussions from analysis to action
  • Experience partnering with operational business units in a large, complex organisation, navigating multiple stakeholders, interdependencies and competing priorities.
  • Clear communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to present analysis and recommendations in a practical, accessible way.
  • CA or CPA qualified or equivalent, with tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce or a related discipline.
