Job Description

As the Head of Strategy in the Life Insurance division, you will be a key architect in shaping the strategic vision and direction of TAL’s portfolio of businesses. This role is pivotal in driving growth, ensuring competitiveness, and fostering innovation within a dynamic and evolving industry. You will be responsible for formulating, communicating, and executing comprehensive strategies that align with organisational goals, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the corporate strategy for the life insurance business,
    aligning with the overall organizational goals and objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate potential business partnerships, alliances, and acquisition opportunities to
    enhance the company's position in the life insurance market.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company's interests.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry innovations to identify opportunities for digital
    transformation within the life insurance sector.
  • Drive initiatives to integrate cutting-edge technologies and data analytics into business processes to
    enhance efficiency and customer experience including utilising our Corporate Venture Capital Fund
    (CVC)
  • Oversee financial modelling and analysis to evaluate the performance of life insurance products and
    initiatives.
  • Present strategic recommendations to the executive team and board of directors.

Qualifications

  • Relevant academic qualifications, e.g. a university degree, professional qualification; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach with a proven ability to develop and communicate compelling strategic narratives
  • Strong commercial acumen and an intuitive understanding of value drivers in a life insurance business (e.g. lapse rates, claims experience, reinsurance structures, embedded value).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
