Company Description

Enero is a collective of boutique marketing communications agencies operating across three service pillars: creative and content, integrated communications and PR, and digital, data, analytics and technology. With major hubs in Sydney, London, New York, and San Francisco, we operate across 13 countries and count some of the world's most ambitious brands among our clients.

Our environment is fast-paced, dynamic, and genuinely fun, but our standards are anything but relaxed. Industry awards line our walls, and our people are the reason why.

Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Company Secretary, the Legal Counsel plays a key role in the day-to-day operation of Enero’s legal function. This is a broad in-house commercial role offering exposure across a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, technology and global privacy, AI advisory, employment law, disputes, M&A activity and general regulatory matters. The role also provides support to the Head of Legal during peak governance periods, including board packs, AGM coordination and routine ASX and ASIC filings.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer looking for variety, autonomy and exposure across a dynamic ASX-listed group. Working closely with multiple agency brands and stakeholders across jurisdictions, you will take ownership of matters end-to-end while receiving direct mentorship from an experienced Head of Legal.

The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial contracts experience, sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach. You will be highly organised, adaptable and confident managing a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.

Commercial Contracts - Own the contracting workload across the Group drafting, reviewing and negotiating client agreements, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, IP, influencer, production and media arrangements.

IT, Privacy & Data Protection - Advise on Australian Privacy Act compliance and international regimes (US, UK, EU). Manage data sharing, consent, cross-border transfers, and data breach response.

AI Advisory - First-line legal support on AI tooling vendor reviews, contracting, IP and confidentiality. Help maintain the Group's AI governance framework and build team capability.

Employment & Disputes - BAU employment advice across Australian and international jurisdictions. Manage low-to-mid value disputes; brief external counsel on matters outside scope.

Regulatory & Compliance - Support BAU regulatory obligations across all operating jurisdictions. Maintain compliance policies, training materials, and flag material regulatory developments.

Governance Support -  Peak-period assistance with board pack preparation, AGM logistics, and routine ASX/ASIC filings. A development opportunity no prior listed company experience required.

Qualifications

You're a commercial lawyer who gets things done pragmatic, approachable, and at home in a small high-performing team where everyone gets stuck in.

  • 3–5 years post-admission, qualified and holding a current practising certificate in Australia
  • Solid commercial contracts skills, confident drafter and negotiator across a broad range of agreement types
  • Comfortable as a generalist, privacy, AI advisory, employment/disputes, and regulatory all sit alongside the contracts work
  • Clear, concise communicator with non-lawyer stakeholders; approachable and accessible across agency teams
  • Pragmatic and commercially minded, risk-proportionate without overcomplicating
  • Curious about legal technology and the evolving AI landscape
  • US experience is a significant advantage given our US footprint; UK/Europe/Asia exposure also welcome
  • Background in marketing, media, technology or professional services is a plus
