About the Business, Role and Team

The Internal Audit Department provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to support the RBA in achieving its strategic objectives. The department plays a critical role in assessing the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks across the organisation.

Reporting to a Senior Manager, you will lead teams of highly skilled audit professionals responsible for delivering assurance across operational and technology risk domains.

You will work closely with senior executives, business leaders, risk and compliance functions, and other audit leaders across the Bank to provide insights on emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.

As a leader within Internal Audit, you will contribute to the strategic direction of the function, foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, and help ensure the Bank's risk and control environment remains robust and effective.

While this position is classified as a Manager, the scope and responsibilities are equivalent to a Senior Manager in the external market.

About the Role

As Manager, Internal Audit, you will be responsible for leading and delivering a portfolio of audits while supporting the development and success of team members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of audits across operational and technology risk areas, ensuring high-quality and timely outcomes.

  • Provide independent assurance and advice on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Audit Strategic Plan and annual audit program.

  • Identify emerging risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement, and communicate practical recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with senior leaders across the Bank, supporting positive risk and control outcomes.

  • Lead, coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and accountability.

  • Ensure effective management of team resources, budgets and operational priorities.

  • Promote the use of data analytics and technology-enabled audit techniques to enhance audit effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of audit methodologies, processes and practices.

About You

You are an experienced audit leader with a strong background in operational and technology risk assurance within the financial services sector. You bring a strategic mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills and a commitment to developing people and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Key skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience in internal or external audit within banking, financial services or a similarly regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading audits across operational risk and technology risk, including IT controls, cyber security, technology change, data management and third-party risk.

  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, internal controls and governance practices.

  • Proven ability to lead, develop and support high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive and engaged culture.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior executives and providing constructive challenge where required.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to identify emerging risks and deliver practical insights.

  • Experience using data analytics and technology-enabled audit tools to enhance assurance activities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely to senior audiences.

  • Sound knowledge of contemporary audit methodologies and best practices.
