Job Description

Network Engineer

  • Love what you do and leave your mark
  • Flexible Working Model: Hybrid Ways of Working – Sydney or Melbourne Location, giving you the autonomy to balance remote focus with regular in-person collaboration.
  • Fixed Term Contract: 12 months
  • Enterprise-Scale Impact: Take full ownership of network reliability and performance across a national footprint of 350+ sites in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
  • Modern Technology Stack: Broaden your technical horizons with modern SD-WAN, Zero Trust architecture, multi-vendor enterprise firewalls, and network automation workflows.

As a Network Engineer within Endeavour Technology’s Networks & Telecommunications team, you will play an integral role in keeping our diverse network robust, responsive, and secure. You will deliver end-to-end lifecycle ownership across more than 350 retail, hospitality, operational, and support office sites - overseeing everything from technical design through to daily deployment, optimisation, and operational maintenance. Operating within an ITIL-aligned framework, you will champion infrastructure governance, modernise network capabilities, and safeguard critical business data and systems against unauthorised access and operational disruption.

Sounds good? Read on.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Network Infrastructure Operations: Deliver, operate, and continuously optimise IT network services across all sites, steering solutions from initial design through to hands-on deployment and ongoing support.
  • Firewall Engineering Management: Configure, maintain, and audit enterprise firewalls (including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco ASA/Firepower), executing policy updates, rule reviews, and cleanup routines.
  • Secure Access Delivery: Implement and uphold secure remote access, robust VPN configurations (AnyConnect/Secure Client), and network segmentation aligned with strict governance standards.
  • Proactive Threat Response: Monitor and analyse firewall logs, security alerts, and network telemetry to detect anomalies and neutralise emerging security threats swiftly.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Establish, document, and rigorously test comprehensive disaster recovery plans to ensure operational resilience and minimise business downtime.
  • Network Automation Tooling: Drive operational efficiencies by building scripts and leveraging automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and Meraki APIs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal technology departments, managed service providers, and external hardware vendors to deliver critical upgrades and project milestones on time.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • Core Networking Experience: Demonstrated background (minimum 4 years) supporting enterprise or customer-centric network environments, with deep knowledge of SD-WAN (Meraki, Cisco), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, and wireless architectures.
  • Multi-Vendor Security: Hands-on proficiency deploying, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise firewalls across Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet FortiGate, Check Point, or Cisco platforms.
  • Modern Security Knowledge: Working understanding of Zero Trust architectures (ZTNA), Zscaler (ZIA/Client Connector), Cisco ISE/DNAC, and secure cloud networking in Azure.
  • Automation Mindset: Practical experience or a demonstrated aptitude for network scripting and automation using Python, Ansible, or REST APIs.
  • Pragmatic Problem Solver: A resilient, analytical approach with the capability to lead through ambiguity, manage stakeholder expectations, and maintain composure in fast-moving situations.
  • Industry Credentials Valued: Formal certifications such as Cisco CCNP / CCNP Security, Fortinet NSE 4+, Palo Alto PCNSE, Check Point CCSA/CCSE, or Cisco Meraki qualifications are highly regarded.
