You’ll get the chance to be at the forefront of change, working across the breadth of our business units and working closely with some of our key leadership team members.

We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

This role is available for an initial period of 6 Months, on a Max Term Contract
Challenger is undertaking a significant program of work to uplift the customer experience using digital technology. The program works with the broader Customer, Product, Distribution, Marketing and Technology teams along with representatives across almost all business units within Challenger to deliver change for our people and our customers. Alongside this there are a number of regulatory and product innovation projects.
About the role
As a Project Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving decisions across your portfolio of work. You’ll enjoy working in a transformation environment where you can navigate ambiguity with confidence and maintain a strong delivery focus.
Undertaking all aspects of project management to deliver projects in accordance with agreed scope, time and cost parameters, your key responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):

Strategic Project Planning: develop and document project objectives, scope and a detailed plan

Progress Tracking & Reporting: Measure and report on project progress and performance, escalating risks and issues as needed.

Change Management: Lead Communicate and manage any change in relation to the projects, including take-to-market activities, ensuring smooth transitions and successful project launches.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders, from initial planning to final delivery, ensuring alignment and buy-in

Executive Liaison: Regularly communicate with executive sponsors, providing updates, managing expectations, and securing necessary approvals to drive project success.

Governance & Clear Documentation: Maintain robust project documentation and governance forums to manage scope, schedule, and costs.

Risk Mitigation: Identify, assess, and manage project risks effectively, including dependency management and horizon scanning for potential risks.
The skills you’ll need
You’ll have proven experience in a project management/project delivery role from within financial services, with a track record of delivering successful projects in complex environments.
You are someone who takes accountability to drive the right outcomes and will be used to juggling multiple projects and workstreams with ease. You'll have experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships at all levels of the organisation.

Adaptability: Comfortable working in a transformation environment, making decisions under pressure, and managing multiple projects with shifting priorities

Executive Communication: Demonstrated experience in liaising with executive-level sponsors, managing their expectations, and securing approvals to ensure project alignment with strategic goals.

Delivery Focus: A keen ability to drive outcomes and keep projects on track, even in complex and fluid environments.

Strong Influencing and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Dependency Management: Experience in identifying and managing project dependencies, along with the ability to anticipate and address potential risks through horizon scanning.

Technical Proficiency: Experienced with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Confluence, JIRA) and familiar with governance and regulatory environments.
Desirable Qualifications

Formal training in project methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile, Six Sigma) is a plus but not mandatory.
