About Brighte

Our mission is to make consumer energy resources (CER) affordable and accessible for everyone.

Brighte is building the platform to enable and accelerate the energy transition by making it affordable, easy and less risky to buy and sell energy equipment.

Our founder and CEO, Katherine McConnell, has been awarded Telstra Businesswoman of the year in 2020 as well as winning the Sustainability Crusader award at B&T's 2023 Women Leading Tech Awards. She is a passionate and humble leader who has a human first approach to business.

As a business in 2025, we have been named a AFR Sustainability Leader within the Banking and Finance category and won the inaugural Sustainability Award at the Affies in 2024!

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end compliance delivery with regulatory interpretation, pragmatic advice, and quality-controlled outputs across consumer credit (NCCPA), financial services obligations, and licensing compliance (AFSL, ACL, AER, AEMO).
  • Lead the Compliance Plan including risk-based monitoring, thematic reviews, control testing, and findings management, including issues, incidents, and breaches governance through to remediation and regulatory reporting.
  • Embed compliance-by-design across Product, Tech, and Operations, providing sign-off on products, distribution, and marketing activity with a strong DDO lens, and producing audit-ready compliance artefacts.
  • Own conduct risk as a distinct domain maintaining a conduct risk framework, identifying indicators, escalating concerns, and partnering with business units to embed fair customer treatment into BAU.
  • Design and deliver a risk-based compliance training program with practical, measurable, and continuously improved using AI, with visibility over completion rates, competency uplift, and effectiveness.
  • Maintain integrity and ethics frameworks including conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, whistleblower program, and anti-bribery and corruption controls, ensuring obligations are understood and embedded across the business.
  • Support regulatory and industry engagement including submissions and responses to ASIC, ACCC, AUSTRAC, and OAIC, alongside sanctions awareness and AML/CTF alignment, in partnership with Legal.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated compliance expertise across NCCPA, Corporations Act, ASIC ACL, AML/CTF, Privacy, and relevant industry codes. You have proven ability to translate complex regulation into operational controls and audit-ready evidence.
  • Hands-on monitoring and assurance experience including conduct risk, conflicts of interest, whistleblower, ABC, and sanctions domains, with strong documentation discipline and ownership across the full compliance lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of DDO, fair customer treatment, and conduct risk principles alongside familiarity with anti-bribery, corruption, and sanctions obligations relevant to Australian financial services.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and automation in compliance. You've used AI to fundamentally change how you work, not as a novelty, but as your default operating mode. You are a deep AI practitioner. You build agents, automations, and tools fluently. You don't just know what AI can do in theory, but you've built things that change how real work gets done.
  • Familiarity with compliance management platforms and regtech including obligations registers, policy management systems, and GRC software.
  • Relevant degree in law, finance, business, or a related field; professional certifications (ICA, CCRP, or CAMS) highly regarded.

What’s in it for you?

  • Flexible working arrangements to suit individual needs and a hybrid work model. Our office is designed for collaboration, creativity and balance between office engagement and remote flexibility. We work in office 3 days and at home 2 days.
  • Free lunch! Yes, there is such a thing! Tasty Tuesday means lunch on us and great company. From tacos, to sushi, to charcoal chicken, it's a delicious way to catch up, unwind and connect.
  • Get social. We host a range of social activities at Brighte. A fan-favorite being our weekly Thursday social event, where you can catch up with colleagues over a drink, snack and a game of table tennis.
  • We want our employees to share in Brighte’s success. You will be given an opportunity to join our Employee Share Option Plans (ESOP).

Fresh bread, protein bars, popcorn, fresh fruit, chocolate, soy crisps, cookies – you name it! We also offer a carefully curated collection of wines and beer on tap for those looking to unwind or enjoy a social moment.
  • End-of-trip facilities. Cycle in to work, lock up your wheels and have a shower in our end-of-trip facilities, which come complete with towel service and hair dryers.
  • Anniversary leave - your dedication at Brighte won’t go unnoticed. Enjoy an extra day to celebrate your work anniversary with us.

Our Hiring Process - what to expect?

At Brighte, we use AI every day, and we hire people who do too. We're looking for people who have lived or are living the AI transformation and will drive this forward at Brighte. That's why all roles include an assessment which is designed to see how you put AI to work. There's no right tool (we use Claude, but you can use whatever you're most comfortable with), and there's no trick to it - we want to see how you think. We will talk about this in more detail if you are invited to a phone screen with our Talent team.

Towards the end of our hiring process, we require all candidates to undertake references and background checks, which include a police check, anti-money laundering and bankruptcy checks.
