Build the forecasting engine that helps steer the bank

This is not a traditional planning role. It is an opportunity to help reshape how Finance partners with the business, turning planning, forecasting and performance insight into a sharper decision engine for the bank.

As Senior Financial Planning & Forecasting Lead, you will help shape a more scalable Finance model for ING Australia. You will lead the bank-wide planning fact base, while partnering closely with Finance teams that provide performance insight and strategic advice to the business. The goal is clear: create one trusted view of future performance, one integrated planning rhythm and clearer accountability across Finance, so the function can move beyond reporting results to actively steering outcomes.

You will act as the enterprise owner for financial forecasting and planning across ING Australia, shaping the bank’s trusted forward-looking financial view and influencing senior decision making through clear insight, challenge and scenario analysis. You will coordinate inputs across Retail, Wholesale Banking and Corporate Functions, challenge inconsistencies, manage scenario and version control, and ensure senior leaders have a coherent, credible and decision-ready view of the future.

What you'll do

  • Lead the enterprise forecasting and planning agenda across ING Australia, creating one trusted forward-looking financial view for senior leaders and executive decision making.

  • Own the executive forecasting and planning narrative, ensuring packs translate complex drivers into clear insight, choices and recommendations for senior decision making.

  • Create one aligned planning rhythm across Finance, with clear expectations, handoffs, review points and escalation paths.

  • Coordinate and challenge forecast assumptions across Retail, Wholesale Banking and Corporate Functions, connecting business drivers to financial outcomes and supporting one coherent forward-looking bank view.

  • Surface risks, tensions and inconsistencies early, and influence senior stakeholders to resolve trade-offs with clear options, evidence and commercial judgement.

  • Support the broader Finance transformation agenda by embedding scalable planning disciplines, clearer accountabilities and more automated, insight-led ways of working.

What we're looking for

  • Deep experience in financial planning, forecasting, management reporting or planning governance, ideally in banking, financial services or another complex, regulated environment.

  • Strong financial data capability, with the ability to work confidently across Excel, planning systems and reporting tools to turn complex inputs into reliable insight.

  • Confidence to influence senior stakeholders constructively, bringing evidence, options and judgement rather than simply coordinating inputs.

  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to connect business activity, external drivers and financial outcomes into a clear forward-looking story.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in automation, planning simplification, technology enablement and scalable ways of working.

  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex planning structures, assumptions, risks and trade-offs into clear, practical messages for senior audiences.

  • Experience with enterprise planning systems, Power BI, SQL, Alteryx, automation or finance transformation initiatives would be highly regarded.

 What’s in it for you?

  • 20 weeks paid parental leave for parents of a child born, adopted or fostered

  • Financial and leave support for employees who commit to study that benefits their development

  • Employee home loan benefits
