Lendlease is a real estate business that operates as three deep capabilities of Investments, Development and Construction. Since our inception in the 1950s, we have been a strong purpose-led organisation and an industry leader – believing in the key role real estate plays in shaping our cities, our communities and our planet, and the positive legacy we can create.

About the Role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel to join our Construction legal team in Sydney on a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover).

As part of the Construction Legal team, you will play a critical role in delivering complex, high-profile construction projects across Australia. In this role, you will provide commercially focused, pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of matters, supporting key business units and stakeholders. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on diverse and high-value work, partnering closely with the business to manage risk and enable strategic outcomes.

You will be involved across the full lifecycle of matters—from early structuring and contract negotiation through to delivery, governance, and dispute support—gaining exposure to complex legal and commercial issues.

This 12‑month contract is a great opportunity to make a real impact on nationally significant projects while working alongside a high-performing, collaborative team.

About You

We are open to candidates at both Legal Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel level, with:

  • Relevant post-qualification experience in construction law (in-house or private practice).

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a range of contracts.

  • The ability to provide clear, solutions-focused advice in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • A proactive, adaptable approach with strong commercial acumen.

At Lendlease we offer workplaces that unite diverse minds; where respect, equitable treatment and equitable opportunity are just the norm. We remain committed to supporting under-represented groups and providing a wide range of inclusion initiatives, so that everyone is supported to thrive.

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is reflected in our Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan, our Bronze Award with the Australian Workplace Equality Index by Pride in Diversity, and our generous parental leave policy of 26 weeks to any parent regardless of gender.

Lendlease welcomes applicants regardless of gender identity, ethnicity, people with a disability, sexual orientation, or life stage. If you do not meet all the criteria or require adjustments to proceed with your application, we encourage you to reach out for a further discussion.
