Working at Transurban is a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the role

The Strategy Manager shapes and advances Transurban’s corporate strategy by leading key workstreams and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. The role collaborates across the business to align strategies, identify value opportunities, and analyse emerging trends, while helping build a culture of strategic thinking and leadership across the organisation.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Shape and steer Transurban’s corporate strategy, driving clarity on enterprise-wide priorities and proactively surfacing value opportunities that will accelerate progress toward our 2030 goals and beyond.
  • Influence and challenge senior business leaders by analysing emerging market and sector trends and translating their implications into clear strategic guidance.
  • Lead the development of high impact strategy artefacts and Executive/Board level thinking, ensuring insights, options and recommendations are robust, evidence based and aligned to enterprise strategic direction.
  • Drive delivery of complex, cross functional strategic initiatives, ensuring programs are executed with discipline, pace and measurable outcomes that strengthen Transurban’s long-term strategic position.
  • Cultivate influential internal and external networks to unlock insights, shape strategic direction, and position Transurban effectively in line with broader policy and market dynamics.
  • Work closely with Transurban's Investor Relations team from time to time on market facing activities including preparation of ASX announcements, investor materials for half-yearly results and Investor Days.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind, has a drive to succeed and develop and has transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • Experience in corporate strategy development with strong analytical, commercial and communication capabilities.
  • Ability to influence, build relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments across diverse business functions.
  • Experience delivering complex strategic work programs and adapting effectively within an evolving, matrix organisation.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Finance, Accounting and/or Law) and five+ years' experience in strategic consulting, sell-side research, investment banking, capital markets, or related fields.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
  • Share offers and insurance benefits
  • Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion, where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact us on [email protected].

The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region. More specifically, its IT sector stands out as the country's third-largest, growing at twice the rate of overall employment in the past decade as businesses continue to digitize their operations to stay competitive.
