THE ROLE
As a Senior Platform Engineer Platform you will set direction and provide technical leadership across Shippit’s platform. You’ll work with experienced engineers and product teams to simplify, consolidate, and scale our technology, driving cross-team adoption and accelerating product delivery.
This role is not just about infrastructure. You’ll shape the future of Shippit’s platform and infrastructure, improving reliability, performance, and developer experience. While ensuring our investments deliver growth and business value.
DAY TO DAY
- Partner with our Product and Engineering teams to deliver platform solutions that accelerate our product builds and releases.
- Drive consolidation and simplification of our technology choices, ensuring that the technology investments we choose deliver maximum value.
- Champion aligned autonomy, helping refine and embed Shippit’s technology vision across teams.
- Design and implement infrastructure as code to build, scale, automate and deliver our platform.
- Act as the domain experts for our infrastructure and share that knowledge with other teams and internal stakeholders.
- Design and implement tooling to enable self service and enhance developer experience.
- Use monitoring and observability tooling to help us understand our infrastructure, applications and the overall health of the business.
- Champion good practices, continuous improvement, technical excellence - from improving response times to engaging with teams to set SLAs
- Design and implement cloud solution that focuses on availability, security, reliability and performance
- Production support, root cause analysis and post-mortem
WHAT YOU BRING
- A number of years experience supporting SaaS products at a senior level, responsible for deploying products and features autonomously.
- Experience in using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience in using and integrating testing tools across the platform lifecycle, (e.g. Playwright, k6, Checkov, E2E testing frameworks and related automation tooling).
- Container and container orchestration experience such as Kubernetes or Docker.
- Experience with Cloud Computing Platform like AWS
- Experience or understanding in cloud-native architecture and concepts like availability, security, reliability and cost.
- Knowledge of what great CI/CD looks like.
- Solid experience with monitoring and logging solutions (i.e Datadog, Cloudwatch).
- Programming and TDD experience, with a language such as Node.js, Go, Ruby, etc.
- Fiercely collaborative, biased to openness and candour, a predisposition to pairing and delivering incremental value.
- Experience using code management repositories like Git.
- Open to new ideas and not scared to experiment with new concepts.
