We’re hipages, Australia’s #1 digital platform connecting households with trusted home improvement businesses. As an ASX-listed tech company, we're on a mission to transform the home improvement industry to build better lives for everyone.

With teams across Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Vietnam, we work as one team with a shared purpose.

We’re proud to be a certified Great Place to Work and WORK180’s #1 Employer for Women. At hipages, you’ll find real impact, career growth and a workplace where everyone belongs.

About the role:

This is a permanent role working within the Expansion & Monetisation squad — a growth-minded, cross-functional team focused on opening up new ways for hipages to grow revenue, and on helping tradies and homeowners get more value from partner products and services. It's an experiment-led squad where designing, testing and learning quickly really matters, and it's a great fit for a senior designer who's energised by commercial problems and enjoys turning a rough opportunity into an experience customers genuinely want.

You'll own the design work end to end — partnering with your Product Manager and engineers in the squad's triad to discover, shape and ship, and working closely with the commercial and partnerships people who bring these opportunities to the team. Because the squad moves fast and tests often, being deliberate about where to go deep and where to keep things lean will help everyone learn quickly without cutting corners on the experience.

You won't be on your own, though — you'll be supported by the wider design team and the Head of Product Design, with plenty of room to share your work, gather feedback and keep growing.

Our design community is inclusive, collaborative and supportive. We meet regularly through design huddles and skill-sharing sessions, and we genuinely care about helping each other do our best work.

Why join our Product team?

  • 💻 Hybrid working model
  • 🪴 In-house Talent Development team to prioritise personal and career growth
  • 💸 Competitive salary, benefits and perks
  • 🤸 Cross-functional collaboration
  • 📖Hands-on learning opportunities and workshops for continuous upskilling

How you will add value

  • Lead the experience design for the Expansion & Monetisation squad, from early discovery through to implementable designs, experimentation, delivery and post-release iteration
  • Help drive a philosophy of continuous discovery — using techniques like interviews, usability testing and concept tests (plus the occasional workshop) to turn what you learn into clear, actionable insights that help the team decide when to push on, pivot or change course. AI tools like NotebookLM help you go deeper and faster
  • Design and run experiments — from quick fake-door and concept tests through to live MVPs — to gauge real demand and shape new revenue streams before the team commits to building them
  • Partner with your Product Manager and engineers in the squad's triad to shape, plan and prioritise work, build alignment, and create shared ownership of what gets delivered
  • Work with commercial and partnerships colleagues to turn new offers and partner integrations into experiences that feel trustworthy and genuinely useful, rather than bolted on
  • Craft simple, elegant interaction designs, leaning on our design system and adding bespoke design where it's needed
  • Use AI tools to explore and test alternative design concepts, generate inspiration, and pressure-test your thinking — we see AI fluency as part of how a modern designer works, and you'll be encouraged to keep experimenting with it
  • Use analytics to instrument, measure and validate your work, keeping a clear line of sight from a design choice to the revenue or the metric it's meant to move
  • Take ownership and be accountable for the quality of the product's experience — you'll know the relevant user journeys and pain points, and use that knowledge to help steer the team and prioritise what gets built
  • Get to know our tradie and homeowner customers deeply, and be a genuine advocate for their needs in prioritisation conversations — especially where commercial goals and customer trust need to be weighed up with care
  • Balance customer experience and business impact with speed and quality

About you:

  • 4+ years of commercial experience in product or UX design for web (desktop and mobile) & app
  • A track record of being the go-to designer on a squad — you're comfortable owning the design work end to end, getting up to speed quickly, and making progress with limited direction
  • Experience across the full design cycle, from research and discovery through to implementable designs and post-release iteration
  • You're comfortable in a fast-moving, experiment-led environment — forming a hypothesis, testing it, and using what you learn to shape what comes next
  • You've worked in cross-functional teams or triads alongside Product Managers and engineers, and you're happy partnering with commercial or other non-product colleagues
  • You've taken complex flows and business logic and made them feel simple and intuitive
  • A genuine interest in the commercial side of design — you like understanding how a product creates value and how thoughtful design can grow it
  • A real interest in using AI tools to work smarter across research, design and concept exploration

Technical experience:

  • Planning and facilitating user research — usability testing, interviews, surveys and contextual inquiries — and synthesising the findings into insights
  • Proficient with Figma and other prototyping tools
  • A good understanding of iOS, Android and web UI patterns, since the squad works across both our apps (built in React Native) and web
  • Comfortable using analytics tools like Mixpanel to instrument, inform and validate your work
  • Experience designing and reading experiments — such as A/B tests, fake-door tests and MVPs — is a real advantage
  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces, SaaS or subscription and monetisation products is also an advantage

Life at hipages:

We’re more than just a workplace. We’re a place where you can be yourself, do great work and grow your career. Recognised as a Great Place to Work, our inclusive, supportive culture helps people thrive.

You’ll use the best tools and tech, with real impact on our products and customers. We invest in your development and lead with coaching, not micromanagement – it’s why 85% of our team say their leader is great.

And there’s more:

  • Diverse, collaborative teams that love solving problems
  • Agile squads, hackathons, off-sites and roadshows
  • Extra leave for birthdays, volunteering, and more
  • Healthy snacks, continental breakfast and fresh fruit
  • Sydney CBD office near Town Hall and Gadigal Stations
  • Tailored growth support, mentoring and stretch projects
  • A vibrant social scene - we work hard and have fun doing it

We prioritise Diversity:

At hipages, innovation and collaboration thrive in diverse and inclusive teams. We don’t expect you to know everything - we care more about who you are as a person, a team member, and a leader.

We’re proud to be endorsed by WORK180 for supporting women’s careers and we value diversity across culture, age, gender identity and sexual orientation.

Research shows that men often apply when they meet just 60% of the criteria, while women and minority groups wait until they tick every box. If you think you’d be a great fit - even if you don’t meet every requirement- we’d love to hear from you.

We’re also a Circle Back Initiative Employer, which means we commit to responding to every applicant.
