Dovetail is the Customer Intelligence Platform for the entire organization. We unify fragmented feedback from every touchpoint, including sales calls, support tickets, and research, into a single AI-powered intelligence layer that empowers every team to build, sell, and serve with confidence. Founded in 2017, we are a team of 100+ across our offices in Sydney and San Francisco, working with thousands of teams from Fortune 500 companies to the world’s most innovative startups.

The best never guess. We help teams turn the noise of thousands of customer interactions into the signal required to move faster, prioritize better, and drive revenue.

We’re building a team of incredibly talented product designers. At Dovetail, designers are accountable for crafting experiences, interactions, and solutions that improve the product for our customers, and drive user adoption. This role places a stronger emphasis on visual design, prototyping, usability testing, and evolving our design system. We're looking for a Senior Product Designer with great attention to detail who can create experiences that reflect our incredibly high bar for quality.

This is a full-time in person-first role (in office 4 days a week), working from our Surry Hills HQ.

What you’ll do
  • Champion customer feedback in every decision. Build a deep understanding of customer needs, perspectives, and goals by talking to customers regularly, getting involved in research, running your own evaluative testing, participating in our community, and responding to feedback. Use tools like archetypes and journey maps to help your team build a shared understanding of the customer.

  • Design simple, intuitive and delightful product experiences. Balance customer needs with business goals and technical constraints, drawing on research, UX, interaction, and visual design to create solutions that feel seamless and easy to use.

  • Drive design through collaboration. Work closely with product, engineering, GTM, leadership and other designers to shape and ship thoughtful, high-impact features.

  • Prototype and pair closely with engineers. Stay close to implementation and sweat the details to make sure what we ship meets a high bar for quality.

  • Contribute to our design system. Partner with designers and engineers to create and evolve patterns and components that can be shared across the product.

  • Help shape our design team culture. We’re a small but quickly growing team, and you’ll help us scale our design rituals and design system, maintain a high quality bar as the product team grows, tackle cross-product problems, and find better ways to work together as a team.

What you’ll bring
  • Strong product design experience. Experience designing modern B2B cloud software, ideally in startups or other fast-moving product teams.

  • Breadth across the design process. Comfortable moving from product discovery through to detailed design. You can quickly visualise and prototype concepts to communicate and iterate on ideas with stakeholders, then carry them through to polished, well-considered solutions.

  • Excited to experiment with AI. You’re curious about AI tools and fast prototyping approaches and keen to explore how they can improve the way you design and work.

  • Attention to detail. You have a high quality bar and are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience. You’re comfortable pushing pixels and sweating the details, we’re a detail-oriented company that cares about quality.

  • Clear communication and stakeholder management. You communicate openly, thoughtfully and honestly with teammates, founders and customers. You’re confident sharing product and design direction, framing challenges and opportunities and building alignment to move team towards an outcome.

  • Highly collaborative working style. You’re comfortable working closely with product managers, engineers, and other teammates to plan, prioritise and deliver high-impact features together.

  • Pragmatic mindset. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, and shifting deadlines. You’re resourceful when solving problems and can make sensible trade-offs while keeping the bigger strategic goal in mind.

  • A great attitude. You’re comfortable with the pace, urgency, risk, and uncertainty that come with an early-stage startup and excited by the opportunity to help shape the product and company as we grow.
