You will collaborate with senior leaders and technical experts within Investments and Technology to create scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that support critical investment analysis, decision-making processes, trading, and regulatory compliance.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Define and own solution architectures for investment initiatives, translating business and investment requirements into fit‑for‑purpose, secure, and scalable technical designs aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Develop solution‑level architecture artefacts including solution designs, integration models, deployment views, and non‑functional requirement definitions to support successful delivery of investment systems and platforms.
  • Provide architectural leadership to delivery teams (engineering, data, security, vendors, and partners), guiding design decisions throughout the delivery lifecycle and resolving complex technical issues as they arise.
  • Ensure solution compliance with architectural standards, security controls, and risk requirements, participating in architecture governance forums and addressing review outcomes for assigned initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with investment business stakeholders, product owners, and delivery leads to ensure architectural solutions meet functional needs, performance expectations, and regulatory obligations.
  • Evaluate and recommend vendor and product solutions at a solution level, supporting procurement and design decisions through technical assessments, proofs of concept, and option analysis.
  • Identify solution‑specific risks, constraints, and dependencies, proposing mitigations and trade‑offs to balance delivery timelines, cost, and technical integrity.
  • Support the implementation of investment platforms and systems, ensuring architectural intent is maintained through build, test, and deployment phases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture standards, patterns, and practices by feeding lessons learned from delivered solutions back into the broader architecture community.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Certifications demonstrating expertise in enterprise architecture or investments would be a benefit.

Required experience, understanding or credentials including:

  • Recent hands‑on solution architecture experience within investment technology, with broader experience working in financial services environments.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering solution architectures for complex investment initiatives, from early design through to implementation and transition to support.
  • Demonstrated track record designing and implementing resilient, scalable investment systems and platforms, including integration with upstream and downstream enterprise systems.
  • Experience designing solutions in a cloud‑first technology environment, involving software‑as‑a‑service platforms, investment data providers, cloud infrastructure services, and end‑user applications.
  • Working knowledge of front, middle, and back‑office investment operations, and the technology capabilities required to support these functions.
  • Practical understanding of investment products, asset classes, and financial markets, sufficient to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of investment workflows, including trade lifecycle processing, risk management, valuation, and performance measurement, as they impact solution design.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and risk requirements relevant to investment systems, and experience designing solutions that meet these obligations.
  • Experience operating within an architecture governance framework, including preparing solution designs, responding to review feedback, and ensuring compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Awareness of current FinTech and investment technology trends, with the ability to assess their applicability to solutions being developed
  • Solid understanding of information security principles, particularly as they relate to the protection of investment data, integrations, and cloud‑based services.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly articulate solution designs, trade‑offs, and risks to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to evaluate options, balance constraints, and make sound architectural decisions within delivery timeframes.
