Job Description

  • Drive Qantas enterprise strategy and adoption of collaboration tools, ensuring continuous product improvement

    The Technology Manager is customer centric leader responsible for partnering with senior stakeholders and technology teams to define strategy and implement solutions across IT and the Engineering & Maintenance businesses within the Qantas Group. 

    In this role, you will lead squads to deliver product strategies, new features, enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives, while fostering a culture of innovation and uplift across both direct and indirect team members. You will own the enterprise strategy, delivery, and adoption of key collaboration tools including Microsoft SharePoint and Teams, Atlassian Confluence and Jira, Miro, and Slack as well as GenAI platforms such as Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot 

    You will have:   

    • Experience in developing and delivering product strategy and roadmaps through effective stakeholder collaboration and a strong understanding of business, economic, and revenue drivers. 
    • Strong capability in analysing product performance, market trends, competitive pressures, regulatory and compliance changes, and broader industry conditions. 
    • Experience managing vendors, including financial oversight, contractual governance, and service‑level performance management. 
    • Proven skill in product planning, prioritising roadmaps, and sequencing delivery to meet strategic product outcomes. 
    • The capability to facilitate feature and capability estimation to support informed commercial and economic decision‑making. 
    • A strong track record in managing operational service quality, IT risk, compliance, and continuous service improvement. 
    • Experience contributing to enterprise‑level service management strategies and uplifting operational performance. 
    • 5+ years’ experience in large enterprise environments and at least 3 years working in Agile frameworks. 
    • Solid operational service management experience, ideally within airline technology, with preference for Qantas exposure. 
    • Demonstrated people‑leadership experience across varied team structures and delivery models. 
    • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills to solve complex, large‑scale strategic challenges. 
    • Exceptional stakeholder‑management skills across both technical and business domains. 
    • Experience coaching Agile mindsets and ways of working across teams. 
    • Ability to design and facilitate workshops that deliver clear, actionable outcomes. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Ability to work cross‑functionally and align business‑unit processes with enterprise‑wide processes. 
    • Strong negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills, complemented by robust commercial and business acumen.
