Meet Athena, the Home Loan Wrecker

Athena Home Loans burst into the industry in 2019 to shake things up and change home loans for good.

We're reimagining home loans and showing Australia there's a lender on their side. Home loans are all we do. We continue to rewrite the rules of home lending, creating tools, products and policy that put the power back in our customers' hands. Athena has been recognised amongst multiple consumer lending and industry awards including Canstar Outstanding Value and Innovation Excellence awards, RateCity and Mozo awards, and Fintech Lender of the year and made AFR Boss best places to work list.

Treasury @ Athena

The Treasury team manages the funding and liquidity backbone of the business. Originating as a fintech the team has built the company’s funding platform from the ground up, from the first balance-sheet loans and inaugural securitisation trust to now having securitised over $10 billion in assets across a diverse range of structures, including warehouse, private placement, term RMBS, and whole-loan sale programs.

Operating with a small, highly skilled footprint, the team delivers business-critical value through deep expertise, disciplined execution, and innovation in both structure and process. Treasury is central to the company’s growth — optimising capital efficiency, enabling new products, and ensuring resilient access to funding markets.

For an Analyst, Treasury offers a unique opportunity to develop hands-on experience in structured finance and securitisation, gain exposure to complex funding mechanics, and work closely with senior leaders across finance, risk, operations, and product. It’s an ideal environment for curious, analytical thinkers who want to grow in a niche and high-impact area of financial markets.

The Role

  • Carry out analysis and prepare insights that support day-to-day funding and finance activities, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Provide application support for our trust management system, including managing change requests, testing and implementing changes, and handling day-to-day support queries.
  • Assist in maintaining our reporting catalogue, documenting specifications, and helping manage changes when reports or data needs evolve.
  • Spot opportunities to make tasks easier or more reliable and contribute ideas or simple solutions to improve how we work.
  • Build a solid view of our end-to-end treasury and finance processes, learn the key dependencies, and keep our procedures and controls up to date.
  • Help capture and organise requirements from different teams, making sure they’re documented clearly and tracked through to delivery.
  • Work with colleagues in product, engineering, and other teams to stay connected to upcoming changes, ensuring treasury and finance requirements are understood.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or another analytical discipline.
  • 2–3 years of experience in an analytical, operations, or finance role. Internship, graduate program, or project work experience is highly valued. Previous Treasury or Trust Management experience is highly regarded.
  • A curiosity about financial services, structured finance, or markets. Direct experience in these areas is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • You enjoy asking questions, digging into detail, and learning how processes and systems fit together.
  • Comfortable working with numbers, spotting patterns, and applying structured problem-solving.
  • Confident in Excel; exposure to SQL or BI tools is a plus but can be learned on the job.
  • Familiarity with treasury management systems is desirable, with experience using Perpetual’s Treasury & Financial Intelligence (TFI) platform being highly valued.
  • Organised and reliable in managing your own tasks and deadlines, with clear communication and a collaborative, feedback-friendly approach.

Benefits & Perks

  • Inclusive, flexible and casual working environment
  • Hybrid working with HQ anchor days in award winning office space
  • Wellbeing program to support your physical, mental, social and financial health
  • Perks program with access to discounts to everyday expenses
  • Fantastic team culture with monthly events

You'll be joining an experienced team, passionate about being best in class in everything we do. We have a relaxed and fun atmosphere where you can bring your unique self and skills to help us all grow as a team. Be great, be you, play nice.

At Athena we are committed to a workplace that embraces diversity, equality, and inclusion. Athenians are free to let their own brand of freak fly.
