InterSystems Work-Life Balance & Wellbeing
Frequently Asked Questions
InterSystems approaches workload and work-life balance with the goal of making work sustainable over the long term. Teams set clear priorities, plan capacity thoughtfully, and establish shared norms around working hours and availability. InterSystems supports work-life balance and encourages employees to enjoy time away from work to rejuvenate. The company provides a single bank of time, Paid Time Off (PTO), to be used in place of the traditional separate allocations of vacation, sick and personal time.
Day to day, many employees point to manager behavior as the biggest factor in keeping workloads manageable. Managers are expected to respect boundaries, help teams prioritize what matters most, and set realistic timelines—especially when projects become complex or fast-moving. Flexibility is treated as a normal part of how work gets done, not a special exception.
The company regularly reviews employee feedback on workload and balance and uses it to guide adjustments in resourcing, planning, and policies. InterSystems has also been recognized externally for its flexible and employee-friendly practices.
As the company has grown, employees have occasionally raised concerns about workload intensity or competing priorities. In response, leadership has introduced clearer prioritization practices, workload reviews, and expanded flexibility and time-off programs. These changes have helped reinforce a culture where people can do meaningful, high-impact work without sacrificing well-being.
InterSystems takes a practical, people-first approach to mental health and wellbeing by offering resources that are easy to access, confidential, and designed to support employees through real-life challenges—not just work stress.
All employees and their household members have access to the AllOne Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential support for personal, family, and work-related matters. Through this program, employees can receive counseling sessions to help manage stress, anxiety, or depression, along with life coaching to navigate transitions, strengthen relationships, and build balance. Financial and legal consultations are also available, supporting overall wellbeing beyond mental health alone.
These services are available in flexible formats, including in-person, phone, and video sessions, and are supported by a 24/7 online portal and mobile app with articles, tools, webinars, and on-demand resources. InterSystems also complements the EAP with broader wellbeing initiatives such as wellness programs, fitness or mindfulness offerings, and time-off practices that encourage employees to rest and recharge.
Employees often point to the accessibility and confidentiality of these resources as key reasons they feel supported. Many say the programs help reduce stress, improve focus, and reinforce a culture where wellbeing is treated as part of doing good work—not something separate from it.
Leadership reinforces this commitment by regularly sharing wellbeing resources, promoting awareness through internal communications and events, and evolving benefits based on employee feedback. When employees have raised concerns in the past about awareness or ease of access, InterSystems expanded EAP coverage, improved communication around available resources, and continued investing in programs that make support visible and stigma-free.
