Your Team

The CFS Legal division is the trusted adviser for CFS in the provision of financial products and services that help to enhance customers’ experiences and assist them in seeking to achieve financial freedom.

The role is responsible for providing advice to Management and the various Boards on all corporate and commercial matters affecting the superannuation and investments business. 


Your Responsibilities

You will assist Management and the various corporate Boards by:


 

  • Providing incisive, practical legal advice on a broad and diverse range of corporate / commercial law disciplines, including contract drafting and negotiating, commercial advice, AML/CTF, litigation, regulatory, privacy, intellectual property, technology, mergers and acquisitions, and transactions experience. 
  • Demonstrating leadership whilst working collaboratively as a team member actively sharing your expertise and knowledge with others. 
  • Assisting with corporate governance / company secretary functions. 
  • Assisting with risk and regulatory compliance projects. 
  • Contributing to the achievement of and taking ownership (as if the business was your own) in achieving, the goals and targets for the legal team and RGA. 
  • Providing plain English, accurate, timely, advice through effective communication. 
  • Maintaining and enhance a strong culture of compliance in terms of regulatory and legal obligations. 


 

Your Capability and Experience

  • Strong experience in financial services, ideally having spent time in private practice.
  • Proven experience in corporate / commercial law disciplines, including contract drafting and negotiating, commercial advice, litigation, regulatory, privacy, intellectual property, technology, mergers and acquisitions, and transactions experience. 
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of corporate governance structure, standards, regulations and legislation. 
  • Develops and maintains effective stakeholder relationships by being a valued and trusted adviser, exercising judgement and influencing key governance outcomes. 
  • Strategic thinking ability (to best contribute to strategy, plans and initiatives) and experience in delivering transformational change. 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation and decision making skills.
