Step into a high-impact legal role where your expertise directly enables Stryker South Pacific (SSP) to achieve its strategic and operational goals while upholding the highest standards of legal, ethical and compliance excellence. You will partner closely with Sales, Finance and Business Leaders to structure, negotiate and execute complex commercial arrangements, mitigate risk and support business growth.

This role has been created to support commercial transactions. You will be a quick learner, enjoy making great deals happen, who can hit the ground running, with the expectation you will quickly build confidence to lead matters end-to-end. We’re looking for someone who builds trust quickly and proactively, and can step into a fast paced environment and make an immediate impact.

In this role, you will help bring Stryker's mission to make healthcare better to life by enabling deals that deliver value for customers and patients.

What you will do

  • Lead commercial contracting: Draft, review and negotiate complex agreements including supply, service, finance, tenders, procurement, distribution and agency arrangements
  • Drive deal execution: Partner with sales and commercial teams from ideation through to close in a busy and fast paced environment
  • Provide strategic legal advice: Deliver commercially focused, actionable guidance on business initiatives, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and legal risk
  • Mitigate risk proactively: Monitor legal and regulatory developments, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Enable the business: Build capability through partnership and guidance to uplift legal understanding and culture across teams
  • Shape legal strategy: Contribute to legal frameworks, playbooks and process improvements that enable scalable growth
  • Improve ways of working: Leverage legal tech, digital tools and AI to drive efficiency, speed and consistency
  • Collaborate globally: Work closely with regional and global legal colleagues and manage external counsel where required

What you bring

  • Qualified lawyer (LLB/JD) with admission to practise in Australia
  • 5+ years PQE with experience in commercial, transactional or finance-related work, ideally gained through a mix of law firm and in house roles
  • Proven expertise negotiating complex commercial agreements across government and/or private sector
  • Experience in medical devices, life sciences or other regulated environments 
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financials and structure practical deal solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a high-volume, fast-paced environment 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels
  • Excellent communication skills — able to simplify complexity and guide decision-making
  • Digital and technology savviness, including curiosity around AI and legal operations tools
  • Agile, adaptable and comfortable stepping into a role with momentum and ambiguity
