The Purpose
As a Product Manager reporting to the Lead Product Manager, within the Product Capability and Integration function of the AP+ Business Payments team, you will shape the strategy and roadmap for your products, using market, customer and data insights to deliver meaningful outcomes. You’ll lead the end-to-end development, management and optimisation of products in market, ensuring they continuously evolve to meet customer and industry needs across the Business Payments portfolio, including BPAY and real time payments on the New Payments Platform.
You’ll identify and prioritise initiatives that drive adoption, improve performance and unlock incremental value—bringing ideas to life through close collaboration with teams across Product, Technology, Operations, Delivery, Risk as well as other members of the Business Payments team and broader AP+ organisation. The role is responsible for managing initiatives and contributing to key projects and strategic programs focused on future product and capability development and enhancements.
In doing so, you’ll play a key role in delivering secure, reliable and competitive payment solutions that benefit millions of Australian consumers and businesses, aligned to AP+’s public-interest purpose.
Key Outcomes the Role Owns:

- Lead product scoping and requirements, defining clear acceptance criteria and ensuring alignment from concept to delivery, including traceability to source for key initiatives.
- Assess opportunities through feasibility analysis and business case development, including cost, benefit, risk and impact.
- Leverage market research, customer feedback and data insights to uncover opportunities, and run experiments to validate value.
- Track and report product performance against targets, proactively managing risks and driving continuous improvement.
- Enhance ways of working by improving processes and contributing to product management standards, tools and best practices.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively managing feedback, issues and compliance requirements, including engagement with subject matter experts, scheme committees and vendors to align on scope, timelines and dependencies.
- Drive progress on priority initiatives within the Business Payments Core Capability squad, contributing to strategic programs such as NPP related initiatives and capability uplift.
- Coordinate go to market activities including content, enablement and campaigns, and support execution of product launches.
You’ll likely be a strong fit for this role if you can confidently answer “yes” to most of the following:
- 3+ years proven experience managing products end-to-end within financial services, payments or adjacent regulated industries, including ownership of backlogs and delivery across the full product lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to use customer, market and transaction data to identify opportunities, prioritise initiatives and drive measurable product outcomes in a payments or financial ecosystem.
- Experience delivering small-to-medium initiatives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments (e.g. schemes, banks, fintech’s), using agile or iterative delivery approaches.
- Strong capability in defining and managing requirements for payment or financial products, including regulatory, compliance and operational considerations.
- Proven experience developing business cases and feasibility assessments for payment or financial solutions, including cost, benefit, risk and customer impact analysis.
